AWS cloud services backbone is its data centers located across the globe. Suppose, a service requester like you and me approaches AWS for one of its services, then AWS should do some background work to allocate your workload.

Points you need to understand
- Some of the operations and its maintenance is responsibility of the Customer.
- And some other operations, customer is not responsible. This is the responsibility of the AWS.
For example your workload (customer) is running on EC2 instance. And, you need a database to store your data. Then, you can install MySQL database.
So, the management of MySQL database, including patches, updates is the responsibility of the customer.
Responsibility of EC2 instance and its virtual machines is of AWS.
Aws monitors all of its services using dash board monitoring system. If any outages found they will inform to the customers, and restores its services.
