Terraform is a powerful tool to automate and orchestrate one of the most popular practices of DevOps culture: Infrastructure as Code. It is important to have an IDE that helps you in the process. Here are the two top IDE editors helpful to write clean terraform code.

Visual Studio Code is a lightweight and powerful source code editor. It is available for Windows 7, 8, 10, Debian, Ubuntu, macOS 10.10+, Red Hat, Fedora, and SUSE. It provides built-in support for JavaScript, TypeScript, and Node.js, and it also supports programming languages like Java, Python, PHP, and Go.

Let’s look at the steps to install Terraform package in VS code:

1. VS Code is a free code editor. You can visit **[https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/setup/setup-overview](https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/setup/setup-overview)** and install VS Code based on your operating system.
2. Open Visual Studio Code and click on **`Extensions`** (refer to *figure 1.20*).
3. Search for Terraform package and install it.

- Run the .exe file. While running selecting the path where to install. These steps apply to installing Sublime in Windows
